“Three Dublin natives with two guitars, a bunch of pedals, a drum kit, and a passion for loud music and dirty riffs.”
Formed in spring 2016 by Rob Halford, Luke Fields and Liamo Boyd, VLLNS are a high energy three-piece band who have been noted for their use of effects units instead of a bass player. Three Dublin natives with two guitars, a bunch of pedals, a drum kit, and a passion for loud music and dirty riffs.
VLLNS have been described as being caught firmly in the grips of alternative rock and blues rock, being compared to such bands as The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Foals and Royal Blood.
VLLNS made their live debut in February of 2017 in a sold out show in Dublin’s Bello Bar and have been playing shows in various well-known venues all around the city ever since. The epitome of their shows so far was their own sold-out Debut Single Launch in Bello Bar within a year of their live debut in the same venue.
VLLNS have a number of shows set up before the end of 2018, and hope to increase their gig count as much as they can before the year is out. The band also hopes to make waves in the Irish Festival scene this Summer.
So far VLLNS have shared the stage with acts such as Alex Smyth, This Other Kingdom, Sylk, and many more.
The band took to the south of Ireland in the summer of 2017 to record their debut EP “Sentiments” which is due for release in April of 2018.
On January 1st, the group’s debut single “The Devil & The Deep Sea” was released on all major streaming sites, the song went on to feature on multiple playlists including Remy Music’s monthly playlist, giving more traction to the band leading into their follow up releases in the near future.
On 2nd of March 2018, VLLNS release their second and final single from their highly anticipated Ep. The new single, titled ‘Talons‘, will be available for download and release on all platforms, and will hopefully help pave the way for the band leading into the festival season.
VLLNS forthcoming Debut EP “Sentiments” will be released in April 2018, and will contain 6 tracks.
The first ever release from the group ‘The Devil & the Deep Sea’ and the later released second Single ‘Talons’ will both be included in this seminal EP from the band.
Aside from their EP, the band have a plethora of their very own original songs in their arsenal ready to be played at any time and on any stage.
VLLNS intend on returning to the studio as soon as possible to immortalise a further batch of their refined and unique alternative rock songs.

“Dublin alternative and blues-rock trio VLLNS shared debut single ‘The Devil & The Deep Sea’ on New Years Day, and it grows very quickly with each listen. Somehow managing to sound both loose and tight in delivering their sound, the chorus is made ear-catching with its quick-fire bass-lines and thudding percussion, and the final third sees some bang on blues riffs to top it all off.”
PURE M MAGAZINE – JANUARY 4TH 2018 – Pure M Magazine
“Three piece Dublin band VLLNS have just released their debut single “The Devil & The Deep Sea”. The band recently completed a number of shows in some of Dublin’s well known venues and recently released their debut track on January 1st 2018
VLLNS formed in mid 2016 and can be described as a band who are firmly gripped within the sounds of Blues Rock, and Alternative Rock, with common likeness’ to bands such as Kings Of Leon and The Black Keys.
Often remembered as an effects heavy driven band, who do not have a bass player, instead favouring the use of effects units to get their desired sound.
The band have been working on their debut single, along with their accompanying EP “Sentiments” since June last year, and finally released their debut single on all websites and apps such as Spotify, SoundCloud and iTunes.”
VLLNS – The Devil & The Deep Sea – Audio – Emerging Indie Bands
“The Irish brit-blues-rock trio VLLNS are finalising the details of their début LP Sentiments planned for release later this year.
On the 1st they revealed their début single The Devil & The Deep Sea which will also be the penultimate of the six tracks on the album. A track that bodes well for the fuller release with a contained energy that pumps its way around the room on the backbone of a powerful trotting percussion, prior to picking up the reigns with the tempo rising.
Frayed guitar is given space to take the spotlight giving the song, along with the vocal, its dirty blues infusion that takes the listener to a sawdust strewn bar-room while the bass is working on such loose strings it is possible to catch their sound of recoil as they slap back in to place, which minds of a saloon-bar swing door creaking on its hinges.
A follow up single – Talons – is also set for release imminently and having had the opportunity to give it a listen too I am confident that the album will be one to grab hold of when it does surface.”
